SPS Keystone Trees for the Mid-Atlantic with Bill Errickson

Virtual

Wednesday, December 7

Come join us for a talk by Bill Errickson, an agricultural agent with Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Monmouth County. Keystone trees perform essential ecological functions that support higher levels of biodiversity to a greater degree than other plant species. Many of the native tree species that are currently being grown and managed in the nursery and landscape industries are keystone species. These trees can have a dramatic effect on enhancing their surrounding ecosystems, including supporting pollinator and bird populations. However, these important trees each have specific site requirements and pest and disease issues that may require management in order to reach their full potential. This presentation will focus on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies for keystone trees in our region, with an emphasis on reducing impacts on beneficial insects. The event will provide 1 CEU for ISA, BCMA (Management), LTE/LTCO, NJUCF, and CNLP (Environment) certifications. It will provide 2 CEUs for NJ Pesticide Licenses in the 3A and 8C categories.
