2025 NJ Tree Climbing Competition
The NJ Chapter of the ISA is preparing to host our annual Tree Climbing Competition, which will be held in Cooper River Park in Camden County, NJ. At this time, registration is ONLY open to climbers who live (or work full-time) in NJ. The event will start on Friday, June 13 at 1:00pm with gear check and the Ascent event. Saturday, June 14 will begin with a walk-through promptly at 7:30am. Please plan to arrive by 7:00am on Saturday: the competition events will begin no later than 8:30am. The top men’s and women’s finishers from NJ on June 14 will qualify for and represent the NJ Chapter in the International Tree Climbing Competition (location New Zealand).
NJAISA TRAQ Qualification Program - SUMMER 2025
The ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (ISA TRAQ) is a voluntary qualification program designed to train and assess candidates in a specialized field of arboriculture. When a professional earns the ISA TRAQ credential, they will be recognized by their peers and the public as a tree care professional who has specialized knowledge in tree risk assessment. To earn the qualification, eligible candidates must complete a training course, and pass both a comprehensive written assessment and a performance-based assessment.
Virtual TRAQ Renewal
The ISA TRAQ is a voluntary qualification program that is valid for 5 years. Before the end of the 5 years, TRAQ qualified arborists may take a renewal course to extend their qualification for another five years. Please note: if five years have passed since your initial TRAQ qualification, you will need to re-enroll in the full 3-day TRAQ qualification program. This is the renewal program for those people who retain an active TRAQ qualification.

Arbor Day Celebration 2025
We are happy to partner with the NJDEP, NJ Forest Service, the NJ Tree Foundation, and the city of Orange to celebrate Arbor Day at Military Park in Orange, NJ this year. The NJ Tree Foundation will be planting 12 trees at 9:00am, followed by a speaking event at 10am. They will also be giving away fruit trees to residents of the city.

Garden State Tree Conference 2025
Once again, the Garden State Tree Conference will be held at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. The conference will begin with a pre-conference workshop day on Wednesday, February 26 followed by two days of our traditional conference on February 27 and 28 with tracks in both English and Spanish on both days. Workday 2024: Pennypacker Park in Camden County
This year’s Workday event will take place at Pennypacker Park in Haddonfield, NJ. Pennypacker Park is a small, unassuming park located in South Jersey with an incredible past. The bones of a Hadrosaurus foulkii dinosaur were excavated from this park in the late 1800’s and became NJ’s state fossil.

Duel on the Delaware
Come on out to Camp Tecumseh for a friendly climbing competition between arborists from the NJ Chapter of the ISA, the Penn-Del Chapter of the ISA, the Ohio Chapter of the ISA, and the New York State Arborist Chapter of the ISA.

This year’s Work Day event will take place at Cadwalader Park in Trenton, NJ. Cadwalader Park is the largest urban park in the City of Trenton (109.5 acres), and it is crossed by the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park.

Come on out to Morris Arboretum’s Horticulture Center for a friendly climbing competition between arborists from the NJ Chapter of the ISA, the Penn-Del Chapter of the ISA, and the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the ISA. This year, the Penn-Del chapter is hosting the competition at Morris Arboretum’s Horticulture Center.

The event will start on Friday, June 9 with Gear Check and Ascent starting at 12pm - 5pm. Saturday, June 10 will begin with a walk-through promptly at 7:30am. Please plan to arrive by 7:00am on Saturday: the competition events will begin no later than 8:30am. The male and female winners of the masters’ challenge event on June 10 will qualify for the International Tree Climbing Competition in Albuquerque, NM on August 11-13.

Come join us for a talk by Stephen Chisholm, Jr. about Underutilized Trees. As a third generation arborist and LTE, Stephen will talk us through assessing the purpose and aesthetic of specific trees in the landscape. He will review common trees that are used over and over by landscape and tree companies, with suggestions for many unique varieties to consider.
